Tattooing extends the exhibition’s exploration of skin as a site of memory, repair, and endurance. Hannalie Taute’s stitched rubber works already operate in the visual language of the body: marking, binding, and holding together. This activation allows that language to migrate from object to skin. The tattoo is not merchandise; it is a voluntary act of identification. It’s a choice to carry the work beyond the gallery and into lived experience.

“From a visual perspective, I immediately connected. There is an old folk element to her work which I love. Also, an embroiderer myself, I love the fact that she uses this technique.”

I specialize in American and Black traditional. I also love bold Ornamental work. I love old traditional folk style art so that does get reflected into my work. I believe tattooing is a deeply healing craft and I love to connect with my clients and create a beautiful, loving, welcoming space.
A selection of flash designs from the Mother. Monster. Stitch. in-gallery tattoo activation. Small, intentional tattoos drawn from Hannalie Taute’s stitched imagery. Each design is offered at a set scale and placed in conversation with the body.
R1 000–R2 000, depending on full colour or black line work.
